~In the Life of a Mother~
Empowering and inspiring Mom's like You!

Hello and Welcome!

You have arrived at my site, declutteredmom.com. My name is Shelly Adams and I'm 39 years-old. As the mother of two plus a step-son, we welcomed our daughter into the
world eight weeks before her expected birthday.

So, Here's My Story:

I married into motherhood at the age of twenty. Just out of high school myself, I had an instant son at the age of seven who has now topped twenty-six. He was followed by a second son, now seventeen, and then our lovely little girl.

Our precious little girl has the best! A new road traveled for my
17 year old son - Being a Big Brother! My son loves having a new little sis!
He is so protective of her and would do anything for her -
What a Blessing he is to me and his father with having a
child with special needs!

We had complications during pregnancy where she was born 8 weeks pre-mature. On top of her prematurity and being in the NICU for 7 weeks, she was diagnosed with Down Syndrome upon birth. WOW! - what a shock, we had no idea during pregnancy and had a lot to absorb! She has been a real trooper in her early history of life and a total JOY to have. If that was not enough, she has also been diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Disease as well as Pulmonary Hypertension along side of having Down Syndrome. She is definitely a full time job! Most Moms are running here and there with Ball Games, Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts, other Sporting Events, Band, Music Lessons, Dance, Karate, the list goes on and on.
But, in my case, it's pretty much all health related, going from Doctor to Doctor, Developmental Care Assistance, Home Healthcare, being admitted in the hospital for weeks on end, etc. My time is constantly consumed
with my daughter and her health issues.

So, when do I have time for myself?

Every mom needs a breather, a break - A bubble bath, a day at the spa, a massage... maybe just cuddling up with a good book or movie or possibly, just joining for a walk! So, I thought to myself - How many other parents have that same type of schedule that wears us down? This is why I have created this website to help other parents similar to my situation have the resources necessary to maintain a healthy, enjoy full, yet satisfying lifestyle while being a parent of such wonderful worthy children. Don't neglect yourself!

TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF AS WELL, YOU DESERVE IT!
